That is why François Schneider wanted to provide financial assistance for young people to pursue their training beyond high school so that they can achieve the goals they have set for themselves, whereas their family background would otherwise have made this impossible due to a lack of resources.

To be as effective as possible, the Foundation focuses its efforts on the two departments of France to which François Schneider is most closely linked by his own background, Yonne and Haut-Rhin, awarding almost 200 higher education scholarships each year. The scholarships allocated are worth between 500 and 5,000 euros, depending upon the candidates’ individual financial situations, but also their particular objectives.

Reading committee

In the educational field, the selection committee known as the reading committee meets twice a year in order to examine the applications for scholarships.
The first meeting is held at the beginning of the year to allow the committee’s volunteer members to establish the programme and the procedures to be implemented.
At the second meeting held in September, the proposals for the attribution of scholarships are put forward.

The thirteen volunteers who make up this reading committee work on the applications received over the two summer months. They take the time to contact the applicants one by one and discuss their financial situation and their study plans.
