Apnoe

Filmed entirely underwater in a swimming pool at the University of Vienna, Apnoe questions the notion of “normality” by showing the daily life of a family in their flat. The work highlights hierarchical structures, obsolete values, but also boredom, hidden under a perfect appearance. The underwater film situation underlines the feeling of heaviness that reigns in this family nucleus and the pressure that weighs on each of its members. Slowing down all the movements, it gives this universe a dreamlike and surreal atmosphere at the same time.
